say cheese!

our friendographer - my made up word for friend & photographer Matt Mason stopped at our house earlier this week to take some photos of miss avery as well as some family photos! we had a great time, and although avery refused to smile, we got some great shots! anyone looking for a wedding photographer should contact matt - he does amazing work!!

my growing girl

today avery had her 2 month check-up. she now weighs 11 lbs, 9 oz and is 22.5 inches long (although the first nurse weighed her in at 10 lbs ... good thing she knew how to use the scale!) she is in the 50th percentile for height and 75th for weight. she once again got a rave review of good health and dr. martinez even got a smile out of her! she did have to get two shots and some mouth drops - she didn't like any of that very much but after a couple second scream/cry, she was all better and fell right to sleep. she is growing beautifully! i still think she doesn't eat enough, but clearly she does as shown in her weight gain.

side note: mommy made friends with a 6 year old in the waiting from who broke the ice by telling me she liked my baby. she then asked her mom to bring her baby brother over so i could see him and proceeded to sit right next to me (practically on my lap) and read me two books. the nurse thought she was my daughter when her name was called since she was so close to me.

Happy Easter!

what a beautiful day for avery's first easter! she spent the morning with grandma & grandpa palmer, brunch with the cwynar clan and in the afternoon she was able to see grandpa johnson & meet great-grandma johnson and uncles miles & zachary for the first time! of course she slept through all of her easter celebrations, but was wide awake and ready to play for hours as soon as we got home! a very busy day, but so great to be surrounded by all of the love!

avery got her 1st easter basket today from grandma & grandpa lucas and it was delivered by the real easter bunny! he was right outside our window :)

7 weeks!

a weekend of firsts

avery had an action packed weekend! on saturday she went with mom & grandma on her first adventure to the mall! she slept the majority of the trip but her eyes did open up once we were in toys r us! i'm not surprised one bit! on sunday she got to experience her first service at heartland, the church mommy & daddy go to. again, she slept through the entire thing (even the loud music!). we also enjoyed a great lunch with friends ashley, josh & cole at granite city. avery is such a good baby - she amazes me every day! we can literally take her anywhere and she hardly makes a peep! :)

so this is what it feels like!

... avery slept for 7(.5!) hours straight last night! :) she had her last feeding of the night at 10pm and then we went right to bed at 10:30 (early for us). the first time i heard her stirring i noticed the sun was coming up! could it be? ... it was 6:00am! she has always been a pretty good night sleeper - waking up after about 4 hours (once she went 5 hours), but i could not have been happier to see 6am on my cell phone! then after a couple of dirty diapers and some jungle mat playtime, we went back to bed around 6:45 and did not wake up again until 9:30! so let's see ... a grand total of 10 1/4 hours of sleep for mommy! WIN! today we celebrate with a cute outfit (thanks Brandy!), photo shoot and lots of outside time! today is the last day it's supposed to be in the 60s until possibly next weekend - gotta enjoy it while it lasts!

Play Date!

avery had so much fun hanging out with ella this afternoon! ella is exactly 4 months older than avery and she is now sitting up all by herself & rolling all over! makes me look forward to all of the fun milestones yet to come for ms. avery! i think these girls are going to get to be good buds ~ just like their moms!

We're Movin on Up...

... to the next size in clothes! avery is officially too long to wear her newborn clothes anymore, so we are retiring those and moving on to 0-3 month. i'm not going to lie and say i didn't cry as i was taking them off their hangers and folding them up - i cried like a little baby! although her 0-3 month clothes are completely adorable, that means she is getting bigger and that makes me sad! who would have thought though that a daughter of nick & mine would be in newborn clothes for FIVE weeks ... definitely not us! :) here's avery modeling one of her cute new outfits!

5 weeks!

Growing Girl!

today we had our 5 week check-up (was supposed to be a 4 week check-up but avery's doctor was out of the office last week). our little girl is now 21 3/4 inches long and 9 lbs 11 ounces! in 36 days she has grown 2 1/4 inches & 3 lbs, 3 ounces. so obviously my concern that she is not eating enough should not be a concern at all!! she only had to get 1 shot and she took it like a champ! 3 little screams and then she was all better! dr. martinez gave her an excellent report and we will be back again in a month for her 2 month check-up!
